Life Verse: John 8:12

Rod and Sharilyn have two sons, James and Dave, and five grandchildren. Prior to his ministry here at Calvary Chapel Old Towne, Pastor Schorr and his wife spent 17 years as missionaries in Taiwan, teaching at a Christian College and planting a church among the Hakka. Pastor Schorr became a Christian during his junior year at Cal State Fullerton where he was studying as a literature major: "I was an arrogant, self-centered, cold-hearted skeptic, very proud of my intellect. But one day a fellow student challenged me: 'So, you're a literature major, huh? Then surely you've read the most influential book ever written.'  I grudgingly began reading the Gospel of John, and didn't get past the first page without being totally humbled and convicted of my sins. I surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus Christ a few weeks later at a Bible Study. It was the greatest moment in my life. Nothing has been the same since."

Hope Verse: Romans 8:28-29

David is married to Lara and has three daughters Elise, Claire, & Lucie. Prior to his current role in the church, he served 17 years in youth ministry where the youth gave him the nickname "Pastor Disaster". Regarding the nickname David says, "I lovingly received the nickname because of one of my first mess ups in ministry. The church building we were using for a Christmas party had no place to play volleyball, so I decided we should remove all the pews. It was a terrible idea and at the same time but very memorable. From that time on when the youth leaders and I were planning events we would ask what are possible pew factors? The youth intended the name as a cool complement, but I always thought it was fitting because the Lord took a disaster and called me to serve His precious church."

Music Minister

Kim and I began our ministry here in September of 2004. Our daughter, Allie, was only 3 years old, and Justin wasn’t even a “twinkle.” I was in my second year as the Director of Bands at California Baptist University (my other hat), and was just about to begin a doctoral program.

Now, here we are, more than a decade later (amazing how fast that went by), and we have seen God’s hand of blessing over our ministry. We have a wonderful church family who cares for each other and loves to worship together on Sunday. This church really sings! Our Choir and Worship Team do a great job, not just singing and playing on Sunday morning, but throughout the week supporting and encouraging each other in prayer. And the church is just as friendly today as it was the first day we visited!

My name is Garrett Marin, I am 21 years old and I have been going to Calvary Chapel Old Towne for seven years.  I have been involved in our youth group throughout my teen and adults years.  I am very excited  to serve the church and train to become the youth pastor.  I have a lovely wife, Chelsie, we've been married since August 2016.  We are honored and blessed that God has called us to this Youth Ministry.  Chelsie and I can't wait to see the youth come to know the Lord and share their faith.

Cori McGee has been volunteering as a youth leader for the past 10 years. She is well experienced in adventure to say the least. She accepted Christ as a freshman in High School through our Youth Ministry. What brought her to know Christ was her past. She did not know her real father but through the love the youth leaders showed her she got to know Christ.. Cori came on staff as a Youth Ministry Assistant in 2007 and then promoted into our Office Administrator position. She has a heart for our youth,  a heart for serving our community and of course a heart for travel. Cori has helped lead mission trips with "Pastor Disaster" all around the world. Cori recently married Devin in 2014 and they love being newlyweds.

My name is Tim Shin, I was born and raised in California and I am 25 years old.  I've been playing music since I was five years old, and after dedicating my life to Jesus, I gave up my ambitions of being a rockstar, and laid my gifts and talents down at the Lord's feet.  Ever since then, the Lord has opened many doors for me to serve, and has given me more opportunities to grow.  I've had the chance to work with many different congregations and professionals, such as Lincoln Brewster and his affiliates from Bayside, and local worship leaders who are anointed in their churches.  These worship leaders poured into me, they helped me to learn to develop my own worship to God.  The Lord had been faithful in my calling, and I'm just trying to be obedient to His will.  Wherever the Lord leads, I follow.

Currently, I'm the Worship Minister for the Sunday Night Service for CCOT, as well as the assistant to Pastor Dave Johnson.  I really believe that the Lord has lead me here to do His work, and to help create a body of Christ that can truly worship in Spirit and in Truth.  My future plans for the Sunday Night Service in terms of the music, and worship, is for us to write songs.  Psalm 96:1, Psalm 33:3, the main focus is to, "Sing to Him a new song," and I hope as a church we can write songs of praise that are from our hearts to Him.  Don't get me wrong, the songs from many great Christian artists are all great, but i think there's something powerful if a church writes a song from their own hearts and prayers.

Favorite Verse: Ephesians 6:10-18

My name is Holly and I was born and raised, mostly, in Garden Grove.  I started attending Calvary Chapel Old Towne back when we were known as Covenant Community Church.  I was brought by a friend to Pastor Dave Johnson's youth group in '99 where I learned what true faith and a Christian walk was all about.  I was given the opportunity to go on multiple mission trips but my most memorable was when I went to Paraguay.  I met my husband, Gerardo, who was also on a mission trip from his country, Chile.  We were married in 2001 and now have two beautiful daughters, Millalin and Sayen.

I was hired, originally, to fill in while the church administrator took maternity leave but was brought back to give extra support where it was needed.  I was officially hired on as the Website Manager/ Administrator Assistant at the end of 2016.  I'm so excited to now be a permanent addition to Calvary Chapel Old Towne and look forward to serving the Lord and church in this wonderful position.
